INTRODUCTION
God’s massive investment is into saving souls from destruction. Right from the time men fell, God has been sending prophets to bridge the gap of fellowship with men created by the sin in the garden of Eden. (Isaiah 59:15-16) God’s love for humanity was made perfect in Jesus Christ by coming to rescue men from destruction so as to have access to eternal life. Jesus Christ came purposely to show the love of the Father by turning the hearts of sinners from darkness to light. (John 3:16) In these last days God is counting on us to reach out to the people in darkness signalling them to the cross of Calvary. (Joel 3:13-14) One major way to prove our love for God is by winning souls into His kingdom.
THINGS TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT SOUL WINNING
- Soul winning is foremost on God’s agenda: God is not slack concerning His promises of saving souls. He is not willing for anyone to perish, but for all to repent. This was Jesus’ only message all through His earthly ministry, the same he has committed to the saints in these last days. (2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timo. 2:4)
- Salvation is the only way of escape from the wrath of God, soul winning is the avenue where this is being communicated unto the sinners: The salvation of the souls of men is a big deal, and we must take it as such. Sinners must know that salvation is the only way to escape from sin, death and eternal judgement. (Hebrew 2:3)
- God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against every ungodliness and unrighteousness of men: God wants His righteousness to be revealed through the engagement of the preaching of the gospel with the help of the Holy Spirit. (John 16:7-8, Rom. 1:16 – 18)
- Every believer is ordained as an able minister of the gospel to harvest the lost into God’s fold: God’s call to the believers for soul-winning is generic. He wants us all to go into the harvest field and reap for the master. (2 Cor. 5:17-20, Rom. 10:9-15)
In Conclusion, soul winning is every believer’s assignment. We are commanded to go into all the world and preach the gospel (Matt. 28:18-20)
