Bible text: ISAIAH 43: 18-19
[18] “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
[19] See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a
way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
INTRODUCTION
The birth of a new child signifies newness. A new life, a new beginning. The start of a new story.
Babies have their own unique scent. In whatever household that a newborn arrives, the scent of
such house changes and anyone who lives in such a household carries this fresh scent with them
everywhere they go. It is something that cannot be hidden.
EXPOSITION
Children are the hope for a better future. Most often, when people talk about the rot happening
in a nation, they say there is no hope on the current leaders and adults. They say the rot is too
deep and there can never be a change. However, it is said that the focus should be turned to the
children, who are still innocent, with whom there is a chance.
In verse 19 of our text, God says he is making a way in the wilderness and streams in the
wasteland. He is going to do the impossible. He is going to do things that were not in existence
before. Even though it has been said that it is impossible for something to change or get better,
God has said it is not so and no word of God will go without coming to pass.
As we’ve established that the birth of a child signifies a new story, a lot of people participate in
the writing of this story and how the ending turns out. People such as parents and guardians have
an inportant role to play to ensure the story ends up being a beautiful one.
God has sent each child to the world to fulfill a purpose but this purpose cannot be achieved
without the direction from guardians and parents. Children must not be made to feel as if they are
worthless as is the habit of some parents and guardians. Parents must ensure that the children
God has given to them find out God’s purpose for their lives and that they work towards fulfilling
this purpose. All of God’s plans for mankind and Earth can only be fulfilled when the people in
whom the necessary things have been deposited use it the right way.
God has written a beautiful story concerning each child and he has great plans for them.
Parents and guardians should be careful in the way they care for the children God has put in their
care so as not to mislead them and destroy their lives in the process.
May God grant every parent and guardian the wisdom to guide their children in the right way so
that God’s purpose for their lives can be fulfilled. In Jesus Name. Amen
