AUGUST 2024 PRISON OUTREACH MISSION TEACHING OUTLINE FOR BADAGRY PRISON

Topic: THE HOPE OF GOD'S GLORY

Bible text: ROMANS 5:1-8

Romans 5:1-8 NIV

[1] Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
[2] through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
[3] Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering
produces perseverance;
[4] perseverance, character; and character, hope.
[5] And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
[6] You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
[7] Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
[8] But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

INTRODUCTION

To see the Glory of God is to experience the power, greatness, majesty and awesomeness of God. No other glory can be compared to the glory of God. God reveals his glory by doing things that are deemed impossible by humans. There are several recordings of the manifestation of God’s glory in the Bible and in all these situations, those who experienced it were marveled because it was beyond what they could comprehend. Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection is an
example of the manifestation of the Glory of God. It shows that God has power over life, sin, and death.

EXPOSITION

In our Bible text, apostle Paul speaks about the greatness of identifying as a believer in Christ. That is, the goodness and grace that comes with giving one’s life to Christ. Through Christ, we got direct access to God. We became partakers and co-heirs with him when we confessed him as our Lord and savior.
What this means is that we got adopted by God the Father and we became his children. We could go to God directly without intermediaries. While in the old testament only a select few had this privilege, Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection brought to us this free gift; direct access to God, the Father. It is through this sonship that we got the privilege of
experiencing the glory of God.

The hope of God’s glory refers to the future culmination of God’s redemptive plan, where believers will experience the fullness of God’s glory and presence. It is the ultimate hope and expectation of Christians, as mentioned in Romans 5:2, Colossians 1:27, and other biblical passages.

The hope of God’s glory encompasses eternal life with God, full redemption, restoration, transformation into Christ’s image, participation in God’s divine nature and beholding God’s
glory face-to-face. This hope motivates believers to persevere, live godly lives, and look forward to the future fulfillment of God’s promises. It’s a powerful encouragement, reminding us that our present struggles are temporary and that an eternal, glorious future awaits.
Without faith and complete surrender to God, no one has the hope of seeing his glory. This is why we must count ourselves blessed as God’s children because we have the assurance that we will see God’s glory

CONCLUSION

Our transference from the world into the kingdom of God, brought us peace. We have peace because we know God has our backing. He is with us every step of the way and we have hope that as his children we will see his Glory and the world will rejoice on our behalf. In God, there is hope for transformation, uplifting, restoration and whatever it is we need. Looking up to God, the author and finisher of our faith is the best solution to whatever problems we may have.

When we do this, he will deliver us from whatever shackles the world may have put us in.
